THE JEWEL COMPANY
What is a Jewel?
The Webster's definition of a Jewel is one that is highly esteemed; a precious stone! Joy's School of Dance definition is almost the same. A Jewel Dance Team member is one who is regarded with the highest achievement award and is composed of students who excel in their craft and know what hard work is all about.
These students attend two weeks of intensive classes in the Summer where they take 6 or more master classes and learn up to 6 different routines. They are auditioned at the end of the two weeks to become a member of the team. Once a member, they must be enrolled in Ballet, Tap and Jazz and have a two to four hour rehearsal once a week. Both the students and the parents give up their time for competitions and rehearsals. Many giving up their family vacations!
So why give up so much time? Well the students improve their technique, and get to see and perform in many different places having a lot of fun along the way. It has been shown over the years, how much better each student becomes by being a part of this team. Not only do they get more individual attention, but they get many more opportunities to perform. Additionally, students learn how to be part of team, implementing organizational and descipline skills that will last a life time.
Come see our Jewel Dance Team perform in the Amelia Christmas Parade, Saturday Dec. 5th at 5pm! Next performance will be in our "Snow White Christmas" show.
